Electro-harmonix ABOUT electro-harmonix Electro Harmonix was founded in October 1968 by Mike Matthews. The first product was a fuzz pedal called the Axis Fuzztone. After that, the linear power booster "LPB-1", a model that could be called the original booster, created with Bob Mayer, an engineer at Bell Laboratories, who won numerous Nobel Prizes in Physics, became a big hit, and the Electro Harmonix brand became widely known, even though it was only sold by mail order. Subsequently, around the latter half of 1969, they released the famous "Big Muff", and in the 1970s they released models that are still popular today, such as the Small Stone and Memory Man, which recorded strong sales. Although the company was doing well in the 1970s, it faced problems with labor unions and parts supply in the 1980s, and went bankrupt once in 1984. So Mike Matthews moved to the former Soviet Union and established a new company, New Sensor Corp., in 1988.
