・Product Description・
The High Beam series produces a very supple and bright bass tone, and produces a sound that suppresses the variation in tone that occurs between strings when playing octaves. It also has many features such as excellent durability, long life, and high wear resistance to the frets. This series is made of round core material and stainless steel hand-wound using traditional techniques cultivated throughout DR's history.
DR STRINGS The Beginnings DR began as a handmade string factory founded by Al Dronge, founder of GUILD GUITAR, who conveyed his string concept and thoughts on sound as a guitar maker to his son Mark Dronge, who then founded the factory to realize that idea.
Decision DR had gained a good reputation for its handmade production, but in order to supply products, it was rushing to adopt advanced technologies such as computer-controlled winding. However, DR realized that there was an absolute difference in sound between machine-wound and hand-wound strings, and thoroughly tested all strings. As a result, they found that there was a clear difference between the two, and concluded that hand-wound was the sound that fit DR's philosophy, and decided to produce all of their products by hand-wound. This decision became a conviction after receiving praise from many professional musicians.
To make the best strings for you
They rediscovered the benefits that round cores bring to musicians, which had declined due to the rise of machine-wound strings, and succeeded in spreading them throughout the world. After that, with the desire to provide the best sound and performance to electric acoustic players, they began manufacturing zebra strings, which are wound with alternating phosphor bronze and nickel plates. In 2001, they successfully put DR's patented K3 coating into practical use. As a pioneer, they released the color-coated EXTRA LIFE series. In 2010, they began manufacturing the NEON series, which features vivid colors. They also developed the DDT series, which is dedicated to drop-down tuning. In recent years, they have succeeded in developing Dragon Skin, a coated string that achieves excellent sound by performing all work from string manufacturing to coating in-house and making detailed adjustments. K3 coating technology has reached a milestone. However, DR is not satisfied with this and is continuing to develop new strings. DR carefully selects materials from America to make the best strings and continues to use hand-wound techniques by craftsmen. All for the purpose of making the best strings for you.
Inherited will Currently, DR inherits the will of three great craftsmen. First, Al Dronge, founder of GUILD. Then, Mark Dronge, founder of DR. Mark Dronge worked at GUILD from the 1960s to the early 1980s and thoroughly studied the philosophy of his great father. And then, Herman Carlsson, founder of Levin Guitar, who is Mark's father-in-law. Annika Dronge and Camilla Dronge, who inherited the will of the three, joined DR strings in recent years and are making great strides every day, aiming to create a new DR that combines tradition and innovation.
