If you install the pins further inwards, the dampening effect is completely absent. Only pushing out remains, but you don't want that. Conclusion: Apart from various holes in my closet and unnecessary work, you can leave these dampers with the manufacturer and prefer to fall back on the tried and tested products of a Swedish furniture chain, which always have similar components in stock on the small parts grab table.
